About

WE TRACK POWER

Civic³ makes public power easy to see. We show who holds authority, what they did with it, and how far the practice of law has drifted from what the Constitution promises in writing. Then we hand you the board. You play it how you like.

Track Power. Not Politics.
We don't tell you what to think. We show who has authority, what powers they hold, what they decided, what records exist and what happened next. You draw the conclusion.

Civic³ publishes a set of rules and applies them to public evidence. The output is only as good as the rules and the data. Nothing here is legal, financial or scientific advice.

The gap is the story

Every legal event is two games at once. The legal game is what the system ruled. The truth game is what the documented record showed. Civic³ scores both, separately, and measures the distance between them. That distance is the gap, and most citizens never see it, because the system is written in a way few people can read.

We lay it out with sourced public records, scored on a simple scale, in a form you can read in seconds. That's the equation of the law: what was promised, minus what was delivered, weighted by who it touches.

What we measure, and what we don't

We measure one thing: the drift between what the Constitution's text promises and what documented practice delivers, for a given institution, weighted by how many people it affects. We rate the seat, never the person who holds it.

We rate institutions
The basic unit is the institution: the courthouse, the office, the agency. We score the seat. The person sitting in it is never the subject of the score.
We anchor to the text
We measure against the written text only: the words on the page, rather than the founders' intent or anyone's moral views. The promise is on paper. We measure how far practice has moved from it.
Everything is sourced
No source, no score. Every number traces to a documented public record. If we can't source it, it doesn't count.
The formula is open
How we score is published, and anyone can attack it. Find a flaw and help fix it. Being open is how we stay honest.
Every score is human
No AI model has ever set a direction, weight or confidence value here. Software finds documents; a person decides what they mean. A million records means a person read a million records.
And no score is final
Anyone can challenge a record with counter-evidence and become the plaintiff. As more reviewers score the same records, how often they agree gets published.

The lighthouse

The Civic³ mark: an obelisk lighthouse throwing a beam through fog, inside a gold hexagon.

Our mark is a lighthouse: an obelisk throwing a beam through fog. The country's power structure is buried under layers, jargon, and more offices and dockets than any ordinary person can track. Civic³ is the beam. It doesn't take sides in the storm. It shows you where the rocks are.

Why the ³

Civic, You. Everything in this nation comes in threes, and so does this project.

Constitution · Institution · You
The promise, the office that keeps or breaks it, and the person it answers to.
Local · State · Federal
Where power sits. The map scores each tier separately.
Legislative · Executive · Judicial
How each tier divides its power.
Record · Score · Challenge
How we measure: a sourced act, a human judgment, and your right to contest it.

Who we are

We're building the most accurate map we can of where the Constitution stands: open source, interactive and honest. Surveillance and prediction tools give the powerful a bird's-eye view of everyone else. Civic³ turns that view around and hands it to the people those tools are usually pointed at.

Big questions deserve simple scoring. On a scale of 0 to 100: is the Constitution being upheld where you live? Are people thriving or struggling? Most of us can feel the answer. Civic³ calculates it honestly and lets you check our work.

A game, on purpose

Civic³ is built like a game because games are easy to read. An HP bar, a boss and a clear win condition let a twelve-year-old follow what used to take a law degree. The institution is the boss. The citizen is the player. The only win condition is the one the Constitution names: voting, and holding offices accountable to the record.

This is the free, open layer: every case, doctrine and campaign, no sign-up. Read it, play it, learn it, share it.

Take it and use it

The record is public and so is our copy of it. There are four parts, each under its own terms. The civic data is free because a dataset nobody can legally copy is a dataset nobody can check.

The data
CC BY 4.0
Every scored record, source, and index. Copy it, mirror it, build on it, commercially or not — just credit it. Terms →
The code
AGPL-3.0
The map, the scoring engine, the tools. Fork it freely — but if you run a modified version publicly, publish your changes. Terms →
The methodology
CC BY 4.0
The formula, the gathering contract, the changelog. Fork it, attack it, publish a better one. If you prove a better method, ours changes.
The game
All rights reserved
Civic³ marks, The Power Game, its art and mechanics. The game is a commercial product; it is what funds the free civic layer.

Openness is our protection. A record kept in one place by one owner can be pressured, changed or lost. A record copied to a hundred places can't.

Civic³ publishes a set of rules and applies them to public evidence. The output is only as good as the rules and the data. Nothing here is legal, financial or scientific advice. Every score links to the document it came from — verify against the primary source before relying on any record. Found an error? Challenge it with counter-evidence; disputes are public and any score revised on evidence is listed in the changelog.
